Youphonic is located in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, IL.
Youphonic is the social platform for musicians, developed by musicians. Specifically, those musicians happen to be a couple of guitar players, Phil Vickman and Seth Dobbs.
While playing bass guitar in two Chicago area cover bands, Phil realized that he was spending a lot of time talking about and messing with his pedalboard. After many cursory late night Internet searches, he further realized that lots and lots of guitarists were doing the same thing online. However, those online discussions and chats about pedalboards were being done in old school chat rooms and forums. There was nowhere to design a pedalboard and then share it and get comments on its usability or lack thereof.
Phil tapped Seth for his expertise (Seth also coincidentally is the guitar player in the above mentioned bands) and within a couple months, Youphonic was hatched.
About Phil: After spending 15 years working for the man and selling computer hardware, software and services, he founded Fat Tone Guitars in 2007. He currently runs Fat Tone, plays bass in 2 bands, enjoys his family including his son and daughter, and now has added EffectsLounge to his bag.
About Seth: 20 years or so in IT application development and deployment including the 4th largest eCommerce site in the US gives him the experience and knowledge to push the envelope with Youphonic. He currently continues his day job, also enjoys his family including his daughter and son, and plays guitar in 2 bands.
At Youphonic, you'll find lots of interactive features and activities including our own Build Your Board app. With BYB, you can design, save and share your living, breathing, changing pedalboard with other like minded guitarists.
